Description: Verbatim is expanding its range with an external RAID hard disk offering 2 terabytes of storage. The 3.5-inch HDD offers maximum storage, ultra-fast data transfer rates in RAID BIG or RAID 0 mode, and continuous data storage based on mirroring in RAID 1 mode.
Verbatim's 2-Disk RAID External Hard Drive has three user selectable RAID options:
BIG/RAID 0 or RAID 1. In RAID BIG mode, the full capacity is seen as 1 BIG Drive with 1 drive letter assigned to it. It fills up one of the hard disks before starting on the other one.
In RAID 0, the user has access to the full 2TB of storage through a process known as striping. This setting offers particular advantages for multimedia and graphics applications such as streaming, high-end gaming or use as a web server. The eSATA connection ensures data transfer rates of 3GB/s, six times the speed of a USB port which transfers at 480Mbit/s.
If the security of its data is particularly important, the drive can be configured to RAID 1. In this mode, the hard disk is divided into two drives with 1TB of storage space each. The stored data is mirrored so that even if one drive fails or develops a fault, the data is still available on the second drive. |
